A small shop with a big bite.
The owner of the shop, Matt Duffenbach (Duff) has known me since before I even knew what a logo was, and he was finally opening up his own shop. If you know him, you'd know that he cares about every detail in anything he touches. So his design had to be perfect.
We worked through a few styles and determined that a snake could show up in merch and didn't need to be a part of the logo. The goal was to make the typography the hero, and not a symbol (I did weave the "S" for Snake in and out of a dagger, similar to a traditional snake and dagger tattoo).
As a result, we ended up with a pixel perfect, yet filigree-dense handlettering piece, accompanied by a monogram, badge, and full logo for signage.
