Designing for an artist isn't supposed to be easy.
Let's get straight to the point. Sam Clark’s work is phenomenal. His tattoos take everyday ideas and push them into something extremely expressive through rich color and deep storytelling. I've been following his work for as long as I can remember, and over time I became familiar with his logo designs as well. Working with him has been a dream project. Fortunately that dream turned into a reality. My fiancée and I traveled to Australia to visit him and his wife, and I had the opportunity to create something to remember forever.

Up for interpretation.
The direction he described to me was mystical and esoteric. Something that NEEDED to be explained, and is otherwise left up for interpretation. The perfect opportunity to create an intriguing narrative.
With my background already, I knew that Sam often uses eyes in his work so the concept of a lantern with an eye quickly became the focal point.
Surrounding the lantern are two female figures, each one representing an individual perspective. The flash style tattoos they are covered in reflect his artistic identity. Those illustrations became a project of their own, balancing intricate flash-style detail with practical scalability. Together, the full lockup works in large-scale print, while the lantern can stand alone for smaller applications.
